Pearson Talent Assessment conducted a workshop on Critical Thinking on 14th and 15th of October 2011, as part of its annual workshop calendar.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Sunitha Murthy, Product Development Leader at Pearson Talent Assessment, with inputs from Mr. Sai Ramesh, an empanelled trainer with Pearson Talent Assessment (PTA). Critical Thinking, a skill that is considered crucial for mid and top level management for taking decisions objectively without any biases is a highly valued skill. Leading companies ensure that they assess these skills in their recruits from top B-schools by using PTA’s Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking–II Appraisal. According to Dr. Sunitha Murthy “Critical thinking is a process and not a final step towards taking informed and rational decisions.” The two-day workshop drew participation from professionals across industries like education, IT, and logistics and functions like HR, Operations, and Sales & Marketing.
The workshop introduced the importance of Critical Thinking as a workplace competency and how it is related to planning and organizing, strategic thinking, decision making and problem solving. PTA’s RED model that enables objective assessment of Critical Thinking skills was also introduced to the participants.
Taking the training to the next level, the workshop helped participants understand how certain fallacies in thinking are committed even when one is aware of the entire process of Critical Thinking and how one can avoid them. The workshop also focussed on development areas, tips and strategies to improve Critical Thinking.
Besides Critical Thinking, Pearson Talent Assessment conducts workshops on its flagship personality assessments – SOSIE, used for employee engagement and Golden Personality Type Profiler, used for individual and team development.
