Talentlens now provides its customers with country specific norms for Australia, UK, Netherlands, France and India for its flagship assessments - Raven's Progressive Matrices and Vocabulary Scales (RAVEN'S) and - Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (W-GCTA)
Pearson Talent Assessment provides its customers with global assessment tools. The word global indicates that procedures followed for test adaptation ensure: directions, items, item formats, and other characteristics of the test and testing situation are appropriate for all cultural and language populations for whom the test is intended. Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (W-GCTA) and Raven’s Advanced Progressive Matrices (APM) have a long history of development and use in many countries. These assessments have been adapted to enable cross-country comparisons.
The testing procedures and conditions have been standardized across countries. This procedure was adapted in five countries i.e. India, France, Netherlands, UK, US and Australia. The adaptation work included enhancements like use of uniform form content, use of uniform scoring and report format.
Additionally, the following enhancements were made in W-GCTA (also known W-GCTA II which is the latest version of the original W-GCTA)
- Inclusion of more items relevant to business
- Inclusion of a higher proportion of difficult items to better separate individuals along a continuum of critical thinking.
Thereafter, the 40 items judged as relevant were subjected to an in-depth fairness and readability review, conducted by the reviewers. Relevance was defined as the extent to which items would make sense to participants in India, and were unbiased against any particular subgroup.
The current revision of the Raven’s APM was undertaken to provide customers with a shorter version of the assessment. Typically APM is composed of relatively easy items in the beginning and becomes progressively difficult. It relies on the number of correct responses within restrictive time limits to differentiate performance among candidates.
- The data collected had common acceptance criteria across the globe.
- The data was analysed using IRT (Item Response Theory) methodology.
- The results obtained for APM shows .82 reliability and .63 reliability for W-GCTA
